Project Research Light

The L-LAB sees itself as a platform for Research in Light. Partners are companies and institutes that are interested in issues concerning lighting technology. This way, solutions are developed where partners from all sectors can benefit.

It is the aim of this co-operation to create a unique international research institute, that is capable of successfully working in the interdisciplinary field of:

• lighting systems derived from human needs,
• adaption of these systems to the human environment and
• methods of development, optimization and manufacturing

The research facility is administrated as a Public Private Partnership. The University of Paderborn and Hella KGaA run the L-LAB as a two-party-partnership. The L-LAB is open for further project partners such as industrial enterprises or universities which can participate from the following advantages:

In the case of industry:

• cost-efficient access to current research achievements at an early stage,
• integration into the international scientific community network,
• the possibility to recruit qualified scientific personnel and to offer further science education to their own employees.

In the case of Universities:

• strengthen their profile in the area of lighting technology and mechatronics,
• smooth the way for engineering, natural and arts sciences with the field of lighting technology
• create an attractive interdisciplinary enhancement of the teaching for their students
